Subaru launches new 2013 Legacy interactive online brochure

Subarubrochure

The newly refreshed 2013 Subaru Legacy now has its own dynamic online digital brochure for buyers to check out all the changes.

Subaru has just announced a new dynamic digital online brochure is available for buyers to see the new 2013 Legacy sedan. Subaru has loaded the 2013 Legacy Dynamic Brochures with a 360 degree view color selector, interactive demos, full feature details and videos of the newly refreshed model. The new 2013 Legacy is refreshed and better than ever, and interested buyers can get the first look to check out its new styling, enhanced efficiency, and watch a full video walk through of its new driver-assist system, EyeSight.

Legacy brochure features 22 interactive pages

Subaru has done a great job of developing digital online brochure for its entire lineup and the 2013 Legacy is the latest model to get the new feature for buyers. Subaru already has digital brochures for the new 2013 XV Crosstrek, BRZ, WRX and WRX STI, Impreza and Forester. The new Legacy brochure features 22 interactive pages that cover everything from exterior and interior trim and color choices, engine and chassis information, fuel efficiency and options and features on the new sedan. Buyers can design their new Legacy to make it truly theirs.

2013 Legacy features Subaru’s EyeSight

The 2013 Legacy is powered by either a 3.6-liter H6 or a new, more efficient 2.5-liter 4-cylinder powertrain and debuts revised styling as well as the new EyeSight. Subaru’s new driver assist system called EyeSight is offered on the new 2013 Legacy for the first time. Legacy EyeSight includes Pre-Collision Braking System, Pre-Collision Brake Assist, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Sway and Departure Warning and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.

The new EyeSight safety system works like a second pair of eyes that monitors the road ahead and recognizes potential dangerous driving situations. EyeSight uses three-dimensional images captured by cameras mounted at the top of the windshield, and features audible and visual warnings to prompt the driver to take action. The new safety system will also apply automatic braking intervention, when necessary, to help avoid or reduce the severity of a detected frontal collision.

2013 Subaru Legacy gets refresh

The 2013 Subaru Legacy also features new front styling with new headlights, grille and front bumper. The 2013 Legacy remains the most fuel-efficient midsize all-wheel drive sedan in America. The 2.5i with CVT gets an estimated 24/32 city/highway mpg. For 2013, the 2013 Legacy adds extra safety with a new Brake Override system.

The 2013 Subaru Legacy remains a standout in the midsize field in terms of roominess. At 103 cu. ft., the Legacy offers more total passenger room than most of its competitors, and rear seat legroom measures a generous 37.8 inches. The 14.7 cu. ft. trunk is on par with front-wheel drive competitors, even with the Symmetrical AWD system that requires packaging for a rear differential and drive axles.

The all-new 2013 Subaru Legacy interactive online brochure gives buyers the chance to design their very own Legacy. You can view the brochure on Subaru's website.

Subaru BRZ Wins ‘Best Of 2013′ Award

For the first time in Cars.com history, two car models co-developed by two automakers won the site’s “Best of” award.

At its annual Best Of awards show last month, Cars.com named the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ as the winners of the site’s highest honor, “Best of 2013.”

“Nearly identical, inside and out, the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ sports car provide a driving experience that is second to none,” Patrick Olsen, Cars.com’s Editor-in-Chief, said in a statement.

“The FR-S and BRZ’s impressive driving ability at a remarkably affordable price made these two sports cars stand out above the other nominees.”

Other nominees for the Best Of 2013 award included the BMW 3 Series sedan, Honda Accord, Honda CR-V, Ram 1500 and the Toyota Prius c.

“This year, our team of experts drove and evaluated dozens of 2013 models, and the competition was steep,” said Olsen. “We test a wide array of cars that meet the needs of all different lifestyles and needs, and our group of nominees reflect that diversity. Car shoppers can be assured that all of the nominees have our seal of approval.”

Subaru To Unveil First Hybrid Model at 2013 New York Auto Show

Just the Facts:
  • Subaru confirmed for Edmunds that its first hybrid model will be unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show, but that it will not be based on the redesigned 2014 Subaru Forester.
  • Subaru developed its own hybrid technology because it is fearful that using another automaker's technology might hurt the brand's image.
  • The automaker will consider offering a plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle if the marketplace demands it.

TUCSON, Arizona — Subaru's first hybrid model will be positioned under the spotlight at the 2013 New York Auto Show, but it will not be based on the redesigned 2014 Subaru Forester, the automaker told Edmunds.

But don't expect a plug-in hybrid or an electric vehicle to follow any time soon.

The reason? Subaru's size and limited resources prevent it from making huge investments in new technology, at least for now.

"We're a smaller manufacturer. We're unlikely to take the lead for things that involve a lot of new technology like electric vehicles or whatever," Kenneth Lin, director of product management for Subaru of America, told Edmunds.

During a drive event in Arizona for the new Forester, Lin said Subaru had developed its own hybrid technology. Subaru has not revealed which model will offer the technology or any details about its hybrid strategy, prompting speculation the company might adapt another automaker's technology.

"That would have been the easy way to do it," Lin said. "I think for Subaru and Fuji Heavy Industries the goal was to make sure our hybrid was a Subaru and had the attributes of a Subaru. People who are loyal owners expect that."

Subaru is owned by Japan's Fuji Heavy Industries, Ltd.

Purchasing another automaker's technology is not unusual. For example, Nissan Motor Company marketed an Altima hybrid using Toyota technology. The Altima hybrid was offered from 2007 to 2011.

Since then Nissan has introduced the Infiniti M hybrid using technology it developed. Additionally, the company has announced that 15 vehicles using hybrid or plug-in hybrid technology will be sold globally by 2017.

Lin suggested that adapting another automaker's hybrid technology was a risky strategy, a strategy that potentially could harm a company's reputation, such as Subaru's.

"We felt that we needed to do it ourselves," he said. "That is why (development) has taken a little bit longer."
